Duties & Responsibilities
The Porter Public Works Department maintains the streets and sewer collection system within the Town of Porter.
With nine fulltime employees, we are responsible for snow removal, brush removal, and other minor debris removal.
The Public Works Department also coordinates with the Stormwater Management Board regarding the cleaning and maintenance of public drains and ditches.
We are also responsible for the repair and maintenance of roads, curbs, and sidewalks.
The Public Works Department will pick-up items left at the curb by Porter residents as long as they are neatly piled and can be handled by collection staff within reason. Brush and debris will be removed from homeowners' property in the order in which it has been requested for pick-up.
Wood chips are available to property owners living within the Town of Porter. To receive wood chips, individuals must call Town Hall and have their name and address placed on a request list. Wood chips will be delivered to requestors in the order of this list.
