The Police Commission meets at 6:00pm on the 3rd Tuesday of each odd month at Porter Town Hall, 303 Franklin Street, Porter, IN 46304.

Members & Composition

The Police Commission has 3 members. All are town residents appointed by the Town Council. Members can be Republican, Democrat or Independent with not more than 2 members of the same party affiliation.

Duties

Duties of the Police Commission are to set policy and be the disciplinary authority. They approve various policies and Standard Operating Procedures that govern the actions of the police department. They hear cases of officer misconduct and administer disciplinary actions.
