Meetings
The Porter Redevelopment Commission meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at Porter Town Hall, 303 Franklin Street, Porter, IN 46304.
Members & Composition
The Redevelopment Commission has 5 voting members plus a non-voting member of the Duneland School Corporation board. There are no party affiliation requirements.
- Two (2) members are appointed by the Town Council
- Three (3) members are appointed by the Town Council president
- One (1) Duneland School Corporation member serves in an advisory capacity only
Duties
The Redevelopment Commission assists the Town in attracting additional employment opportunities and capital investment within the Porter Redevelopment District, or TIF area. General goals are as follows:
- To take those public actions necessary to facilitate the continued, orderly growth of the Town, thus enhancing the opportunities for economic development, private investment, redevelopment, and rehabilitation for the benefit of the Town's quality of life and its residents.
- To promote opportunities for gainful employment of the Town's residents.
- To retain existing businesses and to facilitate expansion of and investment in existing business enterprises in the Town.
