Meetings

The Board of Zoning Appeals meets at 5:30pm the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Porter Town Hall, 303 Franklin Street, Porter, IN 46304.

Members

The board is made up of 5 members who are selected per IC 36-7-4-902(a).

Composition

1. Three (3) citizen members appointed by the Town Council president, of whom one (1) must be a member of the plan commission and two (2) must not be members of the plan commission.
2. One (1) citizen member appointed by the Town Council, who must not be a member of the plan commission.
3. One (1) member appointed by the plan commission from the plan commission's membership, who must be a citizen member of the plan commission other than the member appointed under subdivision (1).

Duties

The Board of Zoning Appeals will:

• Hear appeals from decisions of building officials regarding enforcement of the zoning ordinance.
• Hear and decide on petitions for variances from the Town of Porter Municipal Code.
