Porter Police Department - Accident Reports
Note: The reports are usually ready in three (3) days, however the officer is allowed seven (7) working days to complete a crash report.
Reports may be picked up seven (7) days a week, 24 hours a day.

How to obtain an Accident Report
Online:
You can obtain a copy of your accident report online by going to the following website.
When the website opens, you will have to first choose the state (Indiana) and then you will be directed to another page. On this page you can search by name, date of accident, and agency or you can search by report number. You will be able to print the report from your computer once you have paid the fee. The fee is $12.00 for this service.
By Mail:
You may request a copy of your accident report by mail. You will need to include the following:

In-Person:
You may obtain a copy of your accident report by coming to the Porter Police Department located at 50 Francis Street, Porter, IN.
It's always a good idea to call (219)926-7611 before you come to the Porter Police Department to purchase a copy of your accident report to make sure it has been completed by the officer.
You will need to provide the following:
- Date of crash
- Accident report number (provided by the officer at the time of the accident).
- $5.00 fee (payable in exact payment, money order, *cashier's check or *personal check)
