Comprehensive Plan Project for 2023-2043

What Should Porter Look Like in 2042?

Porter, like towns all over Indiana, uses a Comprehensive Plan to guide decisions about land use.  It describes a vision for the community we want. We use the Plan to establish goals for development, to recommend changes to the zoning ordinance and map, and to help us decide on petitions about land use.

Our plan has been updated.  Porter County is growing.  Regional employment and economic patterns are changing. How can the town of Porter capture the kind of growth we want while preserving what is vital? What issues need to be addressed, and what are the actions needed? The Plan Commission drafted an updated Comprehensive Plan using research from town staff and community input gathered during 2021 and 2022. The Town Council approved the plan in March of 2023
