Porter Town Code Section 14-385

Between January 1st and January 31st of each year, the owner of each dwelling unit and mobile home in which a smoke and CO detector has been installed shall certify in writing on forms prescribed by the Town of Porter Fire Inspection Division of the Porter Fire Department that required maintenance has been performed on all detectors on the owners units. , that the detectors are in good working condition on the owners units, and that the detectors are in good working condition as of the date of certification.  Each owner shall certify to each new occupancy on any dwelling unit and mobile home covered by this ordinance, that all smoke and CO detectors required have been installed and are in proper working condition.

This certificate does not take the place of any license required by law and is not transferable.  Any change shall require a new certificate. 

Having made application in due form and as the conditions, surroundings, and arrangements are, in my opinion, such that the intent of the ordinance can be observed, authority is hereby given and this certificate is granted for the following locations:
